An iPhone Case to Protect His Phone from Everything!

My guy has gone through more cell phones than I can keep track of. He is always such a busy-body and us doing one activity after another. He loves working on things in the garage, riding motorcycle, playing his favorite sports (hockey, baseball, golf and lacrosse), hunting and going to the shooting range, and  SO much more. I feel like he can never sit still and I’m quite okay with this. It’s better than having a lazy couch potato at home!

Right now, he has an iPhone 5. We had to make sure to sign up for the insurance plan that our cell phone provider offers. However, since this insurance plan still involves an out-of-pocket deductible, I made sure to get a case for it. Linear Actuators–Simple Yet Important

Last week I blogged about a project I was doing for school and about Ball Splines. Well it seems this week we have now incorporated Linear Actuators into the mix. Our project is becoming a lot more complicated and demanding than I originally thought it would be. I’m not complaining because I know this is how the real world will be and I might as well get the practice in now.

Anyways, linear actuators are basically in everything we use, from drawers, to elevators. We may not think of the items needed to work these everyday items but they are there, and they are important. Linear Actuators are interesting to learn about because there are so many different kinds of them: profile rail, round rail, sliding elements, short travel and a lot more (but I don’t want to bore you). Our professor guided us to buy these parts from SMI4Motion, and yes we had to pay for our own stuff! Luckily nothing has been that ridiculous in price and we have learned a lot of info just from the manufacturer themselves about these items.

The Key To My Project : Ball Splines

Like most guys, I enjoy keeping up with technology and having the latest “toys”. I’m still a student in college and am going into engineering so I’m always curious of the parts that it takes to put my gadgets together. Many people just buy, buy, buy without knowing how their toys are made or the work it takes to make such things. During one of my classes I had a huge project where I had to work with robotics.

I had never worked with robotics and thought it was going to be much more difficult than it actually was. If it wasn’t for ball splines I would have never made it through my project. Ball splines are a special type of linear motion bearing that provides linear friction-less linear motion and also transmits torque. The difference between a shaft and a bushing is that a shaft is free to move up and down and is free to rotate.

Secure Your Belongings

My boyfriend lives in a house with five different college guys. Since they are in college you can imagine how clean their home is, along with how many parties they have. It may sound ridiculous but installing a security camera for either your home, or either your son or daughters college home, is important. I can’t tell you how many times these guys have gotten expensive things stolen from them after having “friends” over. This just goes to show you can’t trust everyone that walks through your door and that’s scary.

Just yesterday they discovered three missing remotes, a missing golf club and shoes. How random of things to steal but nonetheless keeping your safety and items safe is a major issue. Now I’m sure your thinking that security cameras are expensive for college students but they really aren’t and who can put a price on safety. You never really know who is in your neighborhood, or your home in this matter, so keeping things locked up and surveillance is the answer. Check that off the shopping list!

Great Wedding Shower Gift

This was one of our top favorite gifts me and my husband got for a wedding shower gift. It’s a bed fan! I like a ton of covers on our bed, but he really only likes the sheet and a light weight cover. This fan has worked out really well so far for the both of us. It keeps us both happy and we sleep really well.

It keeps air moving through the sheets and covers for him to stay cool on his side, while I stay just right on my side. It’s a perfect gift to give to any couple. I can guarantee they will use it at some point in time. My son wants one now, because he complains and says that the house is always so hot, so we are going to let him try ours for a few days and see how he likes it. We love it and we sleep so much better to,it was an amazing gift to get.

Light Up Leash

I’m not going to lie, taking your dog out at night can get scary sometimes. Especially when you have my mind and think of all the scary movies you seen and what can happen to you. My dog is crazy and likes to run whenever he can get outside, but at night I don’t want to be chasing him all around the neighborhood. We found this LED lighted dog leash and it is awesome.

My boyfriends works late at night so I have to take him out and sometimes I just freak myself out, and trying to hold back our huge dog with a flashlight in your hand normally doesn’t work out. The leash features three different light modes for complete visibility, while also being strong, soft, lightweight and water-resistant. I love it and it’s so easy to use! Who knew a leash could come in handy. It’s a great light to see what’s going on around you and so you can see where you are going too!

GPS System

I decided to go buy my boyfriend a GPS, because he likes to think he knows where he’s going, but nine times out of ten…he doesn’t. We love to go on road trips and we are out on the road all the time, but it’s always nice to have the extra comfort to check where you think you are going.

I didn’t really know much about the GPS systems, but I got the Garmin GPS and so far we really like it. It’s a touch screen, and it can give you voice to voice directions. We usually turn the sound off though, because after a while it can get annoying. He loves the 3D traffic guide, that can help you steer clear of traffic which is a big bonus, because we do not like traffic at all. It’s amazing at what all these things can do. I’m thinking about getting my mom and dad one too, because they are always traveling the country and it definitely comes in handy.

How I Met Your Mother

I got the series ‘How I Met Your Mother’ for my cousin. He loves this show and can watch it all the time. He moved in with a few of his buddies and it is always a good time over there. They love watching this show and can not get enough of it. It’s season 6 of the series and I think he has all the season until now. I’ve only watched a couple episodes, but from what I’ve watched it was really funny!

His parents like to watch it too now, so when I go visit them, my uncle is watching it a lot of the time. I also got him a gift card to Best Buy, because he goes there almost every day it seems like and he is always getting something new. It’s crazy at all the gadgets he has and the technology he has at his apartment. He is a nerd but I love him any way.

Movie Night!

This was a gift for our whole family to have. We wanted to get a projector and have a movie theater in our house for a while and we finally did it! I love having movie night at home, because all the kids stay home for one night and we get to relax together and spend time with each other. I am definitely going to take advantage of that, because I know they won’t do that forever.

We just got it set up a week ago and so far, the boys are always down there watching there favorite teams play during the night. I think I am going to have to make one rule that after the sun goes down, you can go down stairs and watch your shows and games. I love it though and it’s a great excuse for me and my husband to go relax and have a night to ourselves without spending the money at the movie theater.

Scanner for the iPad Tablet

My sister got this Scanner for the iPad Tablet for her husband and he just raves about it all the time. He showed me how it works and it looks pretty slick. I am almost debating on getting one.I have four kids and they are always drawing things, and I have so many pictures of them. Being able to put them on my iPad that I take every where would be so much easier then, carrying around the pictures to show friends, or even keeping them at home and worrying about them getting ruined.

It would also make it easier for me to send them to family members around the world through emails, rather then just telling them about what they are up to these days. Especially my husband too, because he is always traveling for work and he misses out on a lot of things, so I could scan and send pictures of our kids in sports or just hanging out for the day to him.  I would also probably use it for keeping my recipes in place and not loosing any of those either.
